Stella Flat Head

Stella's a big girl now!

She no longer sleeps in her bouncy seat, or in her pack-n-play!

She sleeps here now- in her crib.
Over the long weekend we worked hard on making that transition.
She napped in her crib successfully for a couple of hours at a pop,
so we thought it might be time to try it at night.
Last night was the night- and she did great.
I, on the other hand, did not get much sleep.
It seems like the monitor magnifies each little sound.

So you may be asking yourself- why did we make the shift now?
Several factors played into our decision to give the crib a shot:
1. She's 4 months old now- it's probably time
2. She's outgrowing the newborn napper
3(most importantly). She's developed a flat head.

Her head has gotten kind of a significant flat spot, but only on one side of the back.
She always lays on the right side of her head,

and it's become a bit misshapen.
We decided to switch up her sleeping spot in an effort to maybe help out her flat head.
I don't really think it worked.
She still lays in the crib on the right side of the head.

I'm feeling the need to defend myself as a mother-
we do tummy time,
we put her in her bumbo and other seats where she isn't resting on her noggin.
We even try to prop her up with a blanket when she's laying on the floor
in an effort to get her to lay on the other side.
It doesn't work.
And
It's still flat.

I'm hoping we don't have to take extraordinary measures to squish her head back to a nice rounded shape.
I'm hoping that as she becomes more mobile it will work itself out.

But for now- Stella Flat Head will be sleeping in her crib.
